A master craftsman at managing the intangible values that define brands, Katsunari Sawada is a corporate brand building consultant that shows companies how to keep winning the loyalty of all their important stakeholders. Born in 1972, in Osaka, Japan, Sawada went on to study in Tokyo, the Philippines, and the Netherlands. Entering the corporate world as a research specialist with the leading Japanese business firm, Fuji Keizai Inc., he conducted interviews with top executives in 32 countries.
In 2001, Sawada joined the Tokyo office of the global branding consultancy, Interbrand, as a brand strategy planner. There, he was
responsible for numerous epochal brand-building projects, developing positioning guidelines for brands like Toyota and Lexus, creating brand management tools for Nikon and other multinationals, and managing the rebranding of major firms like Japan’s construction major, Daiwa House. At Interbrand, he won a reputation for presenting branding proposals that won clients over by including both functional and emotional appeal. Later, joining Interbrand’s global knowledge management initiative, he managed the firm’s organizational knowledge of brand strategy for the Tokyo office.

economy, investors are eager to back projects launched by Sawada’s clients, confident in his visionary principles for building brands that have what it takes to keep people coming back again and again. He works around the world as a consultant and advisor to organizations faced with brand-building challenges. Recent clients include companies in the apparel and internet advertising industries, leading academic institutions, and major trading houses.
